Fourth grade students engaged in a grade level food drive for Thanksgiving. Students donated den dollars towards the purchase of a non-perishable item, which were purchased by the grade level teachers. For example, 1 Den$ = 1 canned good; 2 Den $s = a box of pasta, etc. What an amazing way to embrace gratitude and giving this holiday season!
What an amazing afternoon we had at our First Annual S.T.E.A.M. Gala! 219 families spent the afternoon visiting classes and seeing the amazing projects created during prep classes and in clubs. Judging by the smiles on everyone's faces, the afternoon was a huge success!
The Wolfpack took 3rd overall at the very first District 11 Soap Box Derby! The team was led by Ms. O'Sullivan and supported by Ms. Oquendo. These scholars planned, designed, and built the car as part of their after school club. It was an amazing experience for all involved.
Council Member Oswald Feliz toured our wonderful school and presented Mrs. Vetere with a $200,000 check to help enhance the school’s outside space for our wonderful scholars! We’re HOWLing with gratitude for Council Member Feliz and Mr. Wells, our PTA Vice President, for their work in helping to secure these funds.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope everyone is in good health and that you’re looking forward to the start of a new school year. I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and understanding this past school year as we responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am very proud of the way the PS 96 community handled the demands of last year's ever evolving school reopening plans set forth by the NYCDOE. Our teachers, staff, and families truly worked together to educate and support our students during the most unusual of circumstances. We should all be extremely proud.
As we begin a new school year, our goals have remained the same. We are committed to ensuring an excellent education for all students by providing rigorous lessons and instruction that will bring out the greatness that dwells within all of them. At P.S. 96, we dedicate ourselves to providing a safe, nurturing environment where all students are challenged academically as well as personally motivated by our core values, which are: Have respect, Own your choices, We are safe, and Lead with kindness.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work diligently to make your child's education our priority. I look forward to starting the new school year and seeing our scholars back in the halls of PS 96.
Sincerely,
Joan T. Vetere, Ed.D.
Principal
